So you've never had eyelash extensions before, here's what to expect!
Application of a full set of lashes, depending on what style you choose, takes around 2-3 hours. Classic sets can sometimes take as little as 90 minutes. "Classic," extensions refer to ONE extension per ONE human lash. "Volume," lashes increase the volume of your lashes when small, lightweight fans of several extensions are applied to ONE natural lash.
Natural eyelashes SHED! In fact, the life cycle of an average human eyelash is about 6 weeks. All of your lashes are on their own, individual cycle. Some are babies, and some are ready to fall out. Because of this, extensions are not permanent, and should not be permanent. More than ONE single eyelash should never be attached to an extension. As stated previously, each lash grows at its own pace. If an inexperienced or careless lash tech applies extensions to more than one natural lash, which we call "isolation," the two (or more) natural lashes will begin to resist one another and can cause pain, itchiness, and inability to clean the lashes properly.
"Fill" appointments, or having your lashes restored to their original, fluffy state, are required every 2-3 weeks to maintain fullness and evenness. These appointments typically take 45 minutes to one hour for an experienced lash artist. One (classic) or more (volume) extensions are attached to one individual natural lash with special lash adhesive.
Lashes will appear more dark and full, eliminating a need for mascara. You choose desired length, curl, and fullness of your lashes. Eyelash extensions come in every color under the sun (even ombre and glitter), but the vast majority of lash artists apply black extensions, unless someone is going for a fun, unique look.
The life of your lash extensions depends on how well you care for them. Follow aftercare tips and you can expect your extensions to be beautiful, and your natural lashes to remain healthy and strong.
